This workbook is not very helpful. It does not provide the answers sheet to assist in testing your knowledge.

At first I thought this book was very helpful for studying for the state board exam.
The more I use it the more I realize that it is a waste of money because it does NOT provide the answers to the questions.
Because there is no answers provided in the book makes it very difficult to quiz yourself properly, or learn from your mistake.
To be honest that is the main reason why people purchase workbooks to use as a study guide and to quiz themselves.

I highly recommend the Milady Natural hair care and braiding text book. But NOT the WORKBOOK.
PS. I called Malady and spoken with Jenna Wilkerson and she informed me that an answer sheet exist but it's only for teachers.
This makes no sense. Students need it more than teachers. The student are learning. The teacher should already know the answer. So why do they get the answer sheet and not us the students who paid for the book?

Anyway, my suggestion is to save your money. I came across other books that provide questions with answers to better prepare you for the state board exam.

EVERY MILADY COS SUBJECT/SERIES has multiple answer & educational errors-YOU WILL NOT DO WELL ON THE STATE BOARD EXAM

Do not purchase this workbook nor the text book! Several of the questions are paired with incorrect answers, and far too much of the actual educational material is incorrect. For example, I drove myself crazy trying to complete the crossword puzzle of Chapter 1 (History and Career opp), and received a poor grade. When the instructor took extra time to review the document, she determined that every last question/answer pairing of the workbook was wrong - THE ENTIRE WORKSHEET!!!!! And when the instructor contacted the company, she was told THE SCHOOL must constantly check the Milady website for error corrections - WHAT A LACK OF RESPONSIBILITY MILADY! DO YOU THINK SCHOOLS ARE GOING TO CONSTANTLY CHECK ALL OF THESE DIFFERENT MILADY SUBJECTS, OR WILL YOU JUST TAKE THE HIT AT YOUR EXAM BEFORE THE BOARD? YOU WILL NOT DO WELL ON THE STATE BOARD EXAM IF YOU DEPEND ON THIS MILADY COLLECTION. FYI, THE MILADY BARBER COLLECTION IS ALSO FILLED WITH ERRORS. ADDITIONAL

Dear Milady - In that you are in the business of producing educational material that could present community health risk, errors pf this magnitude are unacceptable, and the State Boards should band your material until you can present the correct answers. YOU SHOULD BE GRADED WITH AN F- Every last one of your books has multiple answer and educational errors. If you cannot provide correct learn materials, this is not the business for you. So, for the good of the public at large - GET IT TOGETHER OR GET OUT OF THE EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS BUSINESS

About the Author
Timothy Beatley is Chair of the Department of Urban and Environmental Planning and Teresa Heinz Professor of Sustainable Communities at the School of Architecture at the University of Virginia, where he has taught for over twenty-five years.His primary teaching and research interests are in environmental planning and policy, with special emphasis on coastal and natural hazards planning, environmental values and ethics, and biodiversity conservation. He has published extensively in these areas, including the following books: "Ethical Land Use"; "Habitat Conservation Planning: Endangered Species and Urban Growth";" Natural Hazard Mitigation"; and" An Introduction to Coastal Zone Management".In recent years much of his research and writing has been focused on the subject of sustainable communities, and creative strategies by which cities and towns can reduce their ecological footprints, while at the same time becoming more livable and equitable places. His books that explore these issues include "Biophilic Cities", "Resilient Cities", and "Green Urbanism" (Island Press).

Inspiring, Enlightening, Challenging

Dream Achievers is for the veteran Network Marketer that wants to be able to enlighten the most uniformed skeptic as well as challenge the brand new representative. After reading the 50 short stories two or three times, I began taking the book with me on appointments. I have highlighted key sentences in most of the stories that I wanted to have prospects read. Then I put tabs on those pages with words such as: "Teens"; $200K - 1st Year; or $100K per month on the labels. This book helps eliminate the first half of the objection - Network Marketing Doesn't Work because you have 50 stories to prove otherwise, the other half of the objection, I don't have confidence in myself to do this is between you and the prospect to overcome. If you purchase this book to only set on your coffee table and read a key story when you might be feeling sorry for yourself, it is worth every penny. But it is better shared than stored. Every serious marketer needs this book!

Hello the book DREAM ACHIEVERS is good for anyone no matter whether they are in network marketing or just trying to make their singing career take off.This is a very inspirational book and I suggest that anyone buy and read this book for their own personal inspiration. Help your dreams take flight. Maybe you too will find your own pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.In this book it tells all the how to's in the network marketing business and it has proved to be very helpful so far. Read it I'm sure that you will love it

motivating, inspiring, talks a lot about people in the health industry of network marketing and some others, but primarily health since it's from about 20 years ago when that industry was in the perfect timing. Overall, great read, entertaining, worth your time.

Lacks recommendations, is a dry source of basic info

I have a number of issues with this book:

1. Instead of giving recommendations as to where to go, this book describes a hundred little towns without giving any significant details. For example, when trying to decide what town to visit on the Western Coast I can read through fifty short descriptions of tiny villages that all sound exactly the same paired with 3-4 hotel and restaurant options for each one and sometimes no sights listed at all. The book fails to recommend one town over another (perhaps one is more convenient as a home base, perhaps one has more quality sights). I'd rather the book suggest fewer locations with more detail and actually described the pros and cons of staying in each town. I can look up village locations and accommodations pretty easily on my own, but I buy guide books to help guide me to the best spots. This book gives almost no recommendations. For example, Cappadocia seems to be a cluster of small towns. Is there an ideal town to stay in that will allow me to visit the others as day trips? Is a rental car a worthwhile investment? All this book tells me is that the towns exist, they have a few sights (1-3) and a few hotels/restaurants (1-3). As far as strategy for maximizing my time and seeing the most sights, this book has nothing to offer.

2. The book does a horrible job of describing what there is to do in each location. For example, when describing Goreme in Cappadocia the book wastes almost the entire "Sights" section describing the Goreme Open-Air Museum in excruciating detail (follow the path, turn right). This is only ONE sight. Then it shortly lists three other churches and a park for a total of five sights. Yet it lists twelve different places to sleep. And Goreme is the town in Cappadocia with the most sights listed which means the others are even more sparse. I did a simple search on Tripadvisor and found a dozen other highly rated things to do.

3. The most frustrating thing about this book is that it is not consistent about how it lists prices. Sometimes prices are listed in Turkish Lira, other times they are listed in Euro. This makes it difficult to compare different accommodations because the reader has to constantly convert prices to judge which place is the better deal.

This book fails because it lacks the insider tips and helpful opinions that make other travel guides successful. I want a recommendation, not a grocery list of names. So far the internet has been far more helpful in providing me with what I need. I will still bring this book along but it will not be my primary source for planning my trip.

Comprehensive, accurate guide for Turkey

Just got back from a 10-day trip to Turkey. Like all Lonely Planet guides, found it very comprehensive and useful for our itinerary that included Istanbul, Cappadocia, and Alacati/Ephesus. It's a good frame of reference for restaurants, bars, hotels, etc. Like all travel guides, however, I think Lonely Planet guides are a good frame and it's always nice to supplement with local blogs, other travelers, local Turks, etc.

Very good. Possibly the best lonely planet I've encountered

Very good. Possibly the best lonely planet I've encountered. The writers are entertaining and good at pointing out things a place does have to offer, rather than what it doesn't (unlike some lonely planets). My only criticism is that it lacks cheaper accommodation options particularly in a lot of smaller or out of the way towns. Mid range hotels are generally plentiful and easy to find, whereas the budget spots are often less so. This was a little annoying, as it was one of the main reasons I bought the book.

I feel faintly ashamed that I've dismissed graphic novels as kids comic book stuff ( blush) until recently. Looking on Amazon for books I noticed that the Twilight series (yes, I've succumbed to the twilight phenomena too) had been released as graphic novel versions and wondered at the attraction as for me books are words - that's the magic, and then this book arrived. Well, I can see how wrong I was and that in fact graphic novel style is an art-form in its own right. This book covers from what materials to start with, to how to get your characters to show emotions, how to set scene moods, elements like page composition via panel settings and breakouts right through to working in digital environments. Here I have to say I've had a pc tablet for a couple of years - passed on by son who didn't use it and I haven't so far but reading this book has shown me how useful it could be not just for graphic art but for many art forms. This little book with its spiral bound pages ( I love those in art books - so useful not to have pages spring shut when you're working) contains a huge wealth of information from the history of graphic novels and the influences on it as it develops through to composing your own story lines and how to create the illustrations. Much of the content is useful to artist working in other styles, as well as graphic - for instance the tips on characters features and construction and the effect of different colours and lighting on moods. Andy illustrates this by showing us people and scenes where he has changed elements so we can see for ourselves just how much difference a simple change can make and that applies to all art - its a very useful learning experience. For myself - well I've learned not to be so closed minded about other art styles and to look at each to see what I can learn. A salutary lesson for anyone! From my initial imagining this genre as faintly comic bookA" derivative in style I've learned that in fact there's a huge world of work behind it, and its been very interesting seeing how the creation and merging of words and images develop, and how there are specific rules to each type of character. All kids love comics for their simplicity - I can see that this genre of book will be a valuable bridge for those who struggle with words, as the thought behind the story is so intense that the clear graphic images will help link words to pictures. I think children like my dyslexic grandson would benefit hugely from reading books like these, and hope that this how toA" book means that there are going to be more available in future. For anyone interested in graphic novels as an art form this book is a great find with so much to learn from, and for any younger people you would like to encourage to take an interest in art this would make a terrific present.-JeannieZelos.com

For starters

I got this out of the library just to get started. It is a good fit for beginners. The best feature of the book is the references in the back of the book. It does give good detail on what supplies and software to use. The more labor-intensive needs of the artist are covered and items such as how and where to place bubbles and graphic enhancements are covered. There other books and I have to be honest, this is the first one I read for a graphic novel, but I feel it suits my needs to get started.

This book reveals tips and techniques you won't find anywhere else. Learn from a working pro. Not only is Andy an accomplished artist and graphic novelist, but he is an adjunct professor of art instruction at the Massachusetts College of Art and the instructor for the new graphic novel illustration program at Emerson College in Boston. This book is a must-have for anyone wanting to make a living as an illustrator. Even non-illustrators will learn a ton and it will help you appreciate comics and graphic novels even more. It's full of things I never thought of like the effects of different positioning and overlapping of speech balloons. Do you know what "dolphins," "peacocks," and "panthers" are? "Bent V"? "Bristol"? Buy this book and find out.

Capturing the journey

Diana du Pont's new book, You Can't Eat Dirt, is the first-person account of the life and leadership of Vyola Ortner, Chairman of the Agua Caliente Cahuilla Tribe. This tome is a vast undertaking and Diana has expertly handled the task creating a piece of history for the record books. She captures the era with countless photos and headlines, one datelined 1958, "Lady Chief Leads Tribe to Real Estate Wampum."

Leading the first all-woman tribal council, Chief Ortner changed Palm Springs forever. She was quoted in 1957 as saying she wanted to "make the area as important a health center as Saratoga, Arkansas and other hot springs resorts throughout the nation." And she did. Thanks Diana, for capturing the journey.

Read the review cannot afford the price of the book but hope to later. I think all tribes should have a woman author to tell that side of that story. Would cetainly help people to understand what a hardship those women have had

A Journey through 'Her-story'

Diana C. Du Pont leads us on the journey of Vyola J. Ortner, a tenacious character who through her birth right at a crossroads in time and place came to lead the first all woman Tribal Council of a sovereign nation in the United States. Part history book, part memoir, part photo album and scrapbook, this is a fascinating 'Her-story' of the Aqua Caliente band of Cahuilla (kaw-we-ah) Indians, that will hold the attention of anyone interested in Native American history, how the U.S. government dealt with tribes, as well as the history of Palm Springs, California. After reading this inviting coffee table size book I have a new appreciation for what went into the creation of this city and the preservation of a band of Native Americans that could easily have been totally assimilated and lost to us.

Mrs. Ortner is an inspiration for all women (and men) who need to get a job done: "I put my head up, my shoulders back, and went and did it. Where I got the guts, I'll never know. I just had to do it. Simple as that!" She is a woman of service and love for her culture (European and Native American)and a good teacher for us all as we move forward in the 21st century.

A fine tale of witchcraft and transformation

"His Maidenhood," by Cooper is another excellent novella by an author who specializes in such highly erotic tales. With a fertile imagination, the author has penned a story of witchcraft, chivalry and gender transformation that has what it takes to deeply stimulate the reader's fantasies.

Welcome of the world of steampunk. Where magic and science are used. The story starts when Lady Everspell. Neighbor a Lord Bullworth. Wanted to something from Lady Everspell. Her family control these lands for 500 years. And she a witch. The Lord wanted something from her. He wanted to control her. By taken control of her lands. Even the king do such a thing from a loyal member of his court. But Bullworth believe that he belongs on top. And to stay on top. He should control others. And keep under his control. But Lady Everspell found a where she can humble him. By turn him into a girl. But then things gets interesting after that.
